2/10/2018 0 Comments Saw 8 OnlineTrivia The film was originally classified R18+ by the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification, with ratings advice of 'high impact horror violence.' The distributor, Studio Canal, decided to appeal this rating to the Classification Review Board. On October 20, 2017, the Review Board overturned the R18+ rating and lowered it to MA15+ with advice of 'strong themes and strong horror violence.' Films classified MA15+ require a person under that age to be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. In the Review Board's opinion, the themes and violence in the film overall was only strong in impact, not high, and therefore it did not warrant a more restrictive rating. Quotes: [ over speaker system] I'm sure you're all wondering why you're here. You deny culpability, no doubt, for the circumstances in which you find yourselves. Salvation can be yours. If you cleanse yourself of the habitual lies that have brought you here. Lies that you have told yourselves. Lies that have brutalized others. Confess, the truth will set you free. But any attempt to violate my rules will kill you. I want to play a game. Even though the movies got progressively worse, there is something about this franchise that always draws me back and makes me want to re-watch it. I had high expectations for Jigsaw because of two reasons: one, the producers stated in an interview that they were offered more than a hundred scripts for a new movie from different writers, but had never been pleased with any of them until they discovered a script so good, which ultimately got picked to be adapted; second, the Spierig brothers, Jigsaw's directors, had previously directed Predestination, such a smart and enticing sci-fi time- travel movie that I liked quite a lot. After seeing Jigsaw, I left the theater disappointed. I'll start with what I enjoyed: The score by Charlie Clouser is just as fabulous as it has always been and manages to go in line perfectly with each scene. The performances didn't bother me at all, although none of the actors really gets to shine. Laura Vandervoort and Paul Braunstein stood out here, with the latter generating some funny moments worthy of admiration. Saw 8 Legacy 2017 film online subtitrat in romana hd este unul dintre cele mai asteptate filme online 2017 de horror, fiind regizat de catre Michael Spierig. ![]() ![]() The direction was very polished and the movie was competently filmed, but the Spierig brothers weren't given much to show their creativity on. This leads me to the negatives. The CGI is very good. There is, however, one scene in which I was feeling as if I was watching one of the most recent Resident Evil movies and that didn't really work for me. What I didn't like: The ideas in this movie and its overall plot are somewhat underdeveloped. I know that this is supposed to be a new 'beginning' for these movies, but as a franchise starter, I wanted more to be explored. The plot falls flat because the movie cuts from scene to scene so swiftly and tries to cram multiple narratives into 85 minutes, that ultimately none of them makes an impact. Saw is known for its visceral traps and torture devices, so I was looking forward to seeing more of that. However, the game presented in this movie has next to no memorable traps. That is because they are a lot tamer than what we've seen before and they simply can't hold a candle to all the ingenious traps from the past movies. The character development is another issue in this movie. The characters are so uni-dimensional, with some of them being there only to fill the screen. And I'm referring to some of the main casting here. Also, character arcs are left unfinished and the movie felt like it ended when the most important part of the story was about to happen. The editing undermines what could've been some very suspenseful scenes because of its sloppiness, by cutting from one narrative (the game) to the other (the investigation) at random moments. Now, it all comes down to the twist. Was it good and unexpected? Well, no, not really. It's not necessarily because you can predict it from miles away (for which the movie offers hints throughout the run-time) due to its small set of characters, but because it had no resonance for me. It didn't blow me away and you could've predicted it from the marketing of the movie alone. Just like with the traps, it just doesn't have the same visceral feel as the past movies and it doesn't really make you crave for the release of the next chapter. Overall, Jigsaw sets itself apart from the previous movies in the series with the help of the two directors who manage to make the movie look stylish and slick, but ultimately, it doesn't succeed in creating the sense of urgency that some of the old movies had and, sadly, disappoints on almost every other level. And yes, there are fan-service moments, but as a fan of this franchise, I felt very little excitement when they happened. Hopefully, if the movie does well in terms of box office, the sequel will improve upon this franchise 'reinvention'.

The Movie Itself: Our Reviewer's Take Take the mental capacity and mystery solving finesse of and the quirkiness of and you have a good idea what Detective Poirot (David Suchet) is like. Poirot, who refers to himself in the third person, is an eccentric detective who has gained quite a bit of fame over the years. 'Murder on the Orient Express' is based on the Agatha Christie novel of the same name. ![]() Poirot is traveling on the Orient Express on his way back to London. As with any whodunit, we are given an eclectic bunch of suspects. The Orient Express is a melting pot of the rich and the poor, the noble and the peasant. An aged European princess and her handmaid, a general from Britain and his young girlfriend, a shifty-eyed conductor, an obstetrician from America, and a nervous American man with a briefcase full of cash and an extreme case of paranoia; He's sure everyone on the train is out to get him, and knowing what the famous Poirot does for a living, he soon plops down a stack of money and asks for protection. Poirot, a principled man, who takes his job seriously, he rejects the offer. To make matters worse, they've found that the paranoid man has been murdered. Poirot is on the case, although quite reluctantly. The film's score booms away as it shows numerous shots of the train barreling down the tracks. You know something bad is going to happen. All of this creates a believable and imaginative, albeit dark setting for a murder mystery. None of it feels hokey, or silly. Poirot, with all his quirks and his finely waxed mustache, takes what he does very seriously. He's a God fearing man, and the religious views of those onboard the train come into full view as he interviews them one by one. The killer must still be onboard, because there were no tracks in the snow after they found the man murdered. We get continuous flashbacks to the night in question, with each passenger giving their recollection of the events. ![]() ![]() Poirot studies everyone and everything, until he offers up his deluge of reasoning at the end of the film bolstered by images of the murder happening. 'Murder on the Orient Express' is a by-the-numbers whodunit, but the last five minutes is what make it such a treat. Poirot is constantly trying to do the right thing. What he's faced with at the end is one of his greatest struggles. A man that believes so much in the law of the land is confronted with a conundrum of principles. What does he do and why does he do it, are what really provide a resolution to this story. The mystery is well done, but the moral dilemmas behind the murder make this worth watching. According to Acorn Media's website this is indeed their first foray into Blu-ray with British TV, and I can say they've handled it relatively well, but there are a few aspects regarding the transfer that they need to work on. The 1080p picture for 'Murder on the Orient Express' does extremely well in well-lit scenes. Some of the shots of the steam locomotive as it shoots through the snow covered forest are spectacular, clear, and beautiful to look. ![]() Extras Making Murder on the Orient Express (48:31) This consists of four sections which must be selected individually, although all are part of the same Making of. When faces are lit they provide great detail, even down to the individual hairs on Poirot's perfectly waxed mustache. Skintones are natural, for the most part, with textures and patterns appearing with clarity whenever light hits them. As you've probably guessed with all the mention of well lit scenes looking good, the dimly lit scenes here look mediocre at best and horrendous at worst. Crushing far too often runs rampant, chewing up scenery and people without regard to details or lines. Faces are gobbled up in the blackness. Delineation is nonexistent, as shadows do less defining, and more covering up. Some of the darker scenes also feature an abnormal amount of grain that cannibalizes the image. I did notice a few instances of banding during the nighttime shots of the train moving through the darkness, and also during the flashbacks of newspaper articles passing across the screen. Annoying instances of blocking never appear though, which was nice, especially for a company's first-time Blu-ray effort. Overall, it's an admirable attempt that presents us with some very strong visuals when light is present, but in the dark all is lost. The DTS-HD Master Audio gives us a 5.1 presentation which was, in my mind, much better than I expected. First off, the score is fantastic. It does a great job at setting the mood and helping the story move along with a continuous feel of foreboding. The ominous soundtrack, with low deep bass and eerie violins is piped through the soundfield rather well, lending the proceedings an ambiance of creepiness. LFE is engaged during the heavy helping of the booming soundtrack and also during the shots that show the train rumbling down the tracks. When the train hits the snow bank and screeches to a halt, the room fills with noises of crunching snow and scraping metal. The rears are a bit subdued, but do offer a good amount of background noise to keep the soundfield lively and worth listening too. As you may have guessed this movie is mainly centered up front with heavy dialogue. The dialogue can sound a tad muffled at times. Other than a few soft moments, the dialogue is clear and concise letting you pick up on all of the questions posed by Poirot, and the answers given by the suspects. • David Suchet on the Orient Express (HD, 47 min.) – Suchet takes a trip on the real Orient Express and talks about why the train, which has lasted over a century, has become so famous. While it has nothing to do with the movie itself, it delves into the history of the train. Well worth a watch, especially if you're interested in trains or European history. • 120 Years of Agatha Christie (HD) – Three pages of text that talk about how 2010 is the 120th anniversary of the famed writer Agatha Christie. • The Poirot Books (HD) – A scrolling page of text that goes through the books that feature Poirot and the years they were published. • Cast Filmographies (HD) – More scrolling text that shows us the films some of the actors have been in. Filmographies include David Suchet, Eileen Atkins, Barbara Hershey, Hugh Bonneville, and Toby Jones. I love Acorn Media and its fight to bring some of the best British television to American audiences, and their first go at bringing it to Blu-ray is a worthy effort. Poirot's adventure on the Orient Express is not only a murder mystery, but also a look into the morals of the great detective. The video is great at times, but fails when it comes to creating believable and detailed dark scenes. The sound design is much more aggressive than I thought it would be, with an astounding score that frames the film as a whole perfectly. The special feature about the real Orient Express is a very interesting watch, but the rest of the features are just screens of text information. I'm still giving a recommendation for this one because it's a great mystery movie, and if we want Acorn to keep bringing British TV to Blu-ray, picking this up will help the cause. While Johny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow will probably never be as cool and interesting as he was whe the series started, I can say that al least in this movie he seems to try harder and that helps him be fun for the most part. The new characters are a little bit on the nose, but as a said, back to basics seems to do, and after all, in this kind of movies the basics work for the better. The villain is interesting for the most part and Javier Barden plays him fine, and the connection they make to Jack's past is actually very intersting. So all in all, an ok to good movie, with nice action, some funny lines, and good score all around. And really, just hearing the familiar notes of Klaus Badelt's theme makes me want to draw my sword and sail to the horizon, so the movie doesn't have to do much to entretain. This movie is not better that the first three, but at the very least, is does much better than the last one and gives me hope that the finale that is most certainly coming can recapture the seas at least one last time. Fanboys of the Pirates franchise will find some enjoyment out of this film, but for the rest of us, it's almost a complete mess. First off, the plot is wildly redundant to the predecessors in a lame attempt to recapture the glory of the earlier films. It features Jack alongside a young girl and guy (not to be confused with Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann) on a mission while being hunted by the undead (again). While the acting by the recurring actors and new ones is solid, the characters are not. It was quite sad seeing Jack Sparrow devolve into a drunken idiot from a cunning funny pirate in the first three films, while the new characters were forgettable. The producers and directors seemed to have lost touch with what makes Jack great. Secondly, the action is not nearly as engaging, with a lot of the set pieces seemingly pulled from other non-pirates movies. Lastly, the film is far too long and not fun enough. Although it has a few nice moments, Dead Men Tell No Tales is a tale that should not have been told. Dead men tell no tales is fenomenal to look at, but insufferable to watch. Elio and Oliver’s affair begins slowly with each circling the other at a distance, conveying the kind of nonchalance that’s a shield for interest. Oliver proves far better at this part of the game; he knows more than to look too long and too hard. Elio’s furtive, ducking glances, by contrast, tend to linger, hovering in the air like questions. He’s increasingly curious about this new guest, but soon inexplicably (to Elio, at least) irked by him as well, leading Elio to complain to his parents about Oliver’s standard signoff (“later”). But when Elio scribbles a private rebuke in a notebook, chastising himself for responding harshly toward Oliver, it’s as if he were writing an apologetic love letter. Guadagnino is very good at catching the indolent drift of long summer days, with their sleepiness and bared limbs. ![]() ![]() Everyone seems to move in slow motion at the villa, except perhaps the family’s hard-working maid. This languor fits the tempo of Elio and Oliver’s relationship, which evolves over meals, drowsy idylls, a little work and a spontaneous piano recital that becomes an overture to seduction. ![]() ![]() A gifted musician, Elio easily moves from piano to guitar (much as his family shifts from speaking Italian to French to English), talent that makes him seem at one with the villa’s miles of bookshelves, its velvet sofas, scattered Oriental rugs and tastefully arranged antiques. A spontaneous piano recital: Mr. Hammer, left, and Mr. Credit Sony Pictures Classics It’s an alluring milieu — charming, civilized and perfectly, if a shade too flawlessly, arranged. Here, even a busy breakfast table and the fruit on a tree can seem art directed. Guadagnino almost can’t help making everything look intoxicating, yet he also makes you believe in this family’s reality. The grand piano isn’t for show and neither are the books or the open affection and respect with which Elio and his parents treat one another. (The movie reminds you how rarely characters read for pleasure, much less listen to classical music.) “Call Me by Your Name” is set in 1983, so no one is staring into a smartphone. And the time frame means that AIDS doesn’t figure in the story, though there’s a suggestion that the closet does. Advertisement The story primarily unfolds through Elio’s point of view. The restless camera tags alongside him, showing you what he sees, his erotic reveries and yearning. And it’s Elio who initiates the affair, at least overtly, though Oliver later admits to playing his part in what the story frames as a mutual seduction. Guadagnino avoids directly engaging the difference in Elio and Oliver’s ages, which might have forced him to explore the underside of his sumptuous surfaces to greater, messier effect. Guadagnino leans on beauty, as when Elio’s father poetically speaks to an increasingly agitated Oliver about the “ageless ambiguity” of some male statues (“as if they’re daring you to desire them”). Written by James Ivory (the director of films like ), “Call Me by Your Name” progresses through evasions and encounters, with Elio advancing, Oliver receding and their circling narrowing. The two don’t (can’t, won’t) always say what they mean. Guadagnino speaks for them by eroticizing their world, making desire visible in the luxuriousness of the setting, in the green enveloping the villa, the gushing waters of a pool and the graceful lines of male statues. When Oliver hungrily eats a soft-boiled egg, cracking the shell and causing the yolk to messily spurt, Mr. Guadagnino’s lyricism slides into comedy; it’s hard to know just how self-mocking the moment is meant to be. Even so, the lyricism seduces as does fragile, ecstatic Elio. “Call Me by Your Name” is less a coming-of-age story, a tale of innocence and loss, than one about coming into sensibility. In that way, it is about the creation of a new man who, the story suggests, is liberated by pleasure that doesn’t necessarily establish sexual identity. It’s important that Elio and Oliver have relationships with women, though for seemingly different reasons: the overheated Elio sleeps with a girlfriend (Esther Garrel), while Oliver carries on a more performative affair with a local (Victoire Du Bois). The women are not treated with much kindness, but these affairs further complicate the movie’s vision of pleasure’s fluidity. There are moments when Mr. Guadagnino’s visual choices seem unintentionally in competition with the quieter, intricate emotions that his actors put across so movingly. He can be discreet to the point of coyness (bodies sweat but don’t necessarily grunt), but it is finally the insistent delicacy and depth of emotion that makes these characters so heart-skippingly tender. The charismatic Mr. Chalamet, Mr. Hammer and Mr. ![]() Stuhlbarg — whose brilliant delivery of a tricky speech pierces the heart and, crucially, the movie’s lustrous patina — transform beauty into feeling. In one alive, vulnerable and life-altering summer, Elio’s desire finds its purpose. He loves, and in loving, he becomes. And then the day dawns, the light of morning bringing clarity, maybe. Sunshine beams across the lush lawn as Oliver joins Elio and his parents for breakfast, untutored in the ways of soft-boiled eggs and village geography. Elio peers across the table. The camera mimics his eyes, landing on a small, silver Star of David dangling from Oliver’s neck, shown in sudden close-up and framed by the V of his unbuttoned collar. A pang of desire ripples across the screen, announcing Elio’s quiet enchantment. In some regards, it’s unfair to compare these three films when so many of their specifics are different. “Carol” revolves around two white women in cloistered 1950s New York, “Moonlight” chronicles a black boy hardening into adulthood in contemporary inner-city Miami, and “Call Me by Your Name” concerns erudite globetrotters in 1983, when Reagan conservatism was sweeping America. But together they are paragons exemplifying the framework that now bolsters gay romance on the big screen. None of the central characters die; no one is abjectly punished for their desires. Each movie ends with a twinkle of bittersweet hope ― something that can’t be said for most queer stories throughout history, even excellent ones like “Brokeback Mountain,” “Philadelphia,” “A Single Man,” “Heavenly Creatures” and “My Own Private Idaho.”. Elio and Oliver’s affair peaks only when the end of the summer nears. Oliver, the pupil of Elio’s academic father (Michael Stuhlbarg), who facilitates an annual internship at the family’s villa in northern Italy, has been careful not to overextend his welcome. “If you only knew how little I know about the things that matter,” Elio tells Oliver, finally hinting that the thing he knows least is how to express his attraction. That crucial sentence recalls Carol’s sentiment toward Therese: “What a strange girl you are, flung out of space.” And it invokes a teenage Chiron, speaking to Kevin in the gleam of twilight: “I wanna do a lot of things that don’t make sense.”. Instead, devotion crescendoes in tiny increments. A performatively defensive Elio tells his parents it’s impolite that Oliver’s preferred adieu is an offhand “later!” At a nightclub, his eyes stay glued on Oliver dancing with a woman. He scribbles notes that say things like “can’t stand the silence.” He pops up from a lake wearing Oliver’s Star of David around his neck. On average, these signifiers would be grander in a tale of heterosexual love, where best friends can agonize over will-they, won’t-they predicaments, and sages can help to galvanize a budding pursuit. Because the wait was tortuous, there are few swoons as powerful as that of Elio and Oliver’s first kiss, planted after Elio decides he can’t settle for underhanded flirtations any longer. And there’s no finale like the finale of “Carol,” in which Carol smiles softly as Therese glides toward her, confirming that, yes, they’ll give the relationship a shot after all, despite so many cultural roadblocks. Borrowing the subtle language of queer yearning, these personifications of self-acceptance spark some of the most moving moments in modern cinema. Even as more same-sex pairings touch each other onscreen, gay visibility is still a battlefield. It’s telling that only one queer movie per year breaks through the indie noise. In 2017 alone, the collective attention paid to “Beach Rats,” “Battle of the Sexes,” “BPM (Beats Per Minute),” “God’s Own Country,” “Princess Cyd” and “Thelma” trails that of “Call Me by Your Name,” which was anointed the chosen one after its rosy in January. Even so, these films ― including the AIDS-themed “BPM” ― sculpt characters who refuse to be victims. To wit, “Call Me by Your Name” is about the beauty of exploration. “We wasted so many days,” Elio tells Oliver after their mutual endearment has fully blossomed. The closet robbed them of their already limited time together. As Sufjan Stevens sings in “,” a ballad featured in the movie, “How much sorrow can I take? / Blackbird on my shoulder / And what difference does it make / When this love is over?” The summer must end, and heartbreak will follow. But that intoxicating enchantment is forever. In many ways, the story is just beginning. Everything’s an aching close-up. 2/10/2018 0 Comments Die Mumie (Bluray)![]() Release Media Infos *****************************************************************************|NNNNN|NNn||II||MMMM /MMMM| /aAAa /'''||'| /'/|NNNNNn|NNn||II||MMMMM /MMMMM| /aAAAAa / _||| / /|NNnnNNn|NNn||II||MMMMMM /MMMMMM| /aAAa`AAa / /||||/ /|NNn| NNN|NNn||II||MMm|MMM /MMM|mMM| /aAAa aAAa / /||| {|NNn| NNNhNNn||II||MMm| MMmmMM/|mMM| /aAAAAAAAAAAa / /---|||||NNn| NNNNNn||II||MMm| NNNN/|mMM||aAAa''aAAa||______||||NNn| nNNNn||II||MMm| MM/|mMM||aAAa||aAAa||.||.|.
